The Americans’ Expectations My expectations

1. ….are to experience the school and everyday lifestyles, while teaching everyone about our life.
2. We would also like to experince all the normal teenager events and fit in doing things like going to the Pubs, Discos, sporting events, and shopping.
3. We would also like to learn to understand some Italian language.
4. My expectations …. We expect to be treated as well as we treat others. We expect to gain friends from this experience.
5. We expect to get to know the culture. We expect to do normal teenage things(discos, pubs, cinema, etc.)
6. We expect to have fun!   I do not have any expectations for my experience here I am so lucky to be here. I want to meet many friends including boys Iwant to kiss an italian guy to see if they are better at kissing. I also will be happy if I can learn a little bit of italian so I can share it with my friends and family back in Grand Rapids. I want to learn about the Italian lifestyle because I want to live here!!! I would like to learn the language and traditions of Italy. I want to be able to find my own way around in Macerata and feel like it is my home. I want to be able to communicate with new people that I meet in the community. I also want to give my new family an idea of what my life is like in Michigan. I want to develop a strong relationship with my new family. I expect to become more openminded about the world and gain new ideas from Italy and Europe.

1. …. Not being able to communicate with our family and say the right words. Not fitting in with the other teenagers here. Getting lost in the city. My fears are that we will not meet the expectations our host families have for us. I am afraid that I will offend someone that is from here. Our fears are nothing drastic, we mostly are concentrating on having a good time and taking everything in!!!!!
2. My fears …. Saying something rude or offensive on accident. Thinking that my host family does not like me. Getting lost somewhere and not being able to get back. Doing the wrong thing because we do not know better. Not communicating well with family.
3. My fears …. That we will not be able to communicate with anyone else That our host families will not like us That I will not enjoy it That I will do something to offend my host family Becoming homesick
